Accenture acquires Staufen AG to enhance supply chains

Accenture has agreed to acquire Staufen AG, a Germany-based management consulting firm, along with its subsidiaries. This acquisition will strengthen Accenture’s ability to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness in manufacturing and supply chains, particularly in industries such as automotive, aerospace and defense, industrial goods, and medical equipment.

Manufacturers today face increasing challenges, including supply chain disruptions, geopolitical uncertainties, and evolving tariffs, all while adapting to rapid technological changes. Staufen brings extensive expertise in operational excellence, helping clients optimize value chains, implement digital manufacturing strategies, and improve overall business performance.

Staufen’s services cover Industry 4.0 solutions, supply chain management, and organizational transformation, utilizing data-driven tools, lean management principles, and continuous improvement techniques. These solutions enhance product design, streamline shopfloor processes, accelerate time to market, and improve sustainability while reducing costs and inefficiencies. Additionally, through its academy, Staufen supports talent development and leadership growth, ensuring long-term benefits for its clients.

For instance, Staufen helped an automotive supplier enhance shopfloor management, making production, logistics, and quality control processes more agile and efficient. Its hands-on approach fostered collaboration among employees, resulting in better operational performance and financial outcomes.

“Manufacturers need to continuously optimize their value chains to remain competitive.

Acquiring Staufen aligns with our strategy to transform supply chains and manufacturing. By combining Staufen’s expertise in operational excellence with our capabilities in digital technologies—such as AI, generative AI, digital twins, and supply chain software—we can help clients enhance efficiency, support sustainable practices, and build resilient, autonomous systems”, stated Matthias Hégelé, Accenture’s supply chain and operations lead for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

”In today’s unpredictable business environment, companies need solutions that address rising production costs and supply chain complexities.

Operational excellence is more crucial than ever, especially in Germany, a global manufacturing hub. Staufen will help us maximize the value of manufacturing and supply chain operations for our clients”, added Christina Raab, Accenture’s market unit lead for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

“We help clients optimize their value chains, a critical factor in today’s competitive and fast-changing market. Our approach goes beyond technology—we work directly in offices and factories to implement real change. Joining Accenture allows us to leverage our three decades of hands-on expertise to support more clients in navigating complex transitions with tailored digital solutions”,commented Wilhelm Goschy, CEO of Staufen.

With a team of over 200 professionals across Germany, Italy, Switzerland, the U.S., Mexico, and Brazil, Staufen serves clients ranging from mid-sized businesses to major corporations. Following the acquisition, its team will become part of Accenture’s supply chain and operations practice.
