Moneo by ifm: the way to go for smart manufacturing

More than a buzzword, smart manufacturing is becoming a noticeable force, a powerful tool that has the potential to transform the competitive landscape, and companies that are slow to embrace it could be left behind.

Smart manufacturing is a combination of various technologies and solutions which collectively, if implemented in a manufacturing ecosystem, is defined as smart manufacturing. And when it comes to Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, data is a key component in the equation: data helps people decide inside a plant “what to do” and “when to do it”. This communication between machines and people enables enhanced production capabilities, while being able to access and analyze data that was not previously available.

moneo- the Industry 4.0 solution plug and work

In 2021, the German manufacturer and provider for automation technologies ifm launched moneo – IIoT solutions for industry and production. As an IIoT platform, ifm moneo combines the level of operation technology with the level of information technology. The sensor data generated in the production plants can be read and processed easily and used as a basis for sustainable corporate decisions.

The solution detects automatically all devices and sensors on the network and converts data into information that provides actionable insights to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). The moneo Industry 4.0 software integrates into the existing SCADA System, Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Designed to be plug and work, moneo can be up and running collecting and analyzing data in minutes, and can be implemented with minimal IT support.

Integrated know-how

The major advantage of ifm solutions lies in the integrated knowhow at hardware level, so that the integration and use of information is very easy without time investment or the need for experts. Understanding the needs and desires of customers is essential for any company that wants to remain relevant and competitive. ifm understands this, as it focuses on providing innovative, cutting-edge solutions to help develop the industry through automation and workplace improvement. Automation is one of the key aspects of modern industrial development, as it can help improve productivity, efficiency, and the quality of products and services. ifm can offer its customers personalized automation solutions, tailored to the specific needs of each client. This can help optimize production processes, reduce cycle times, and eliminate human errors, which can lead to a significant increase in business efficiency and profitability. In conclusion, by offering innovative, cutting-edge solutions for automation and workplace improvement, ifm can help ensure sustainable development and increase competitiveness within the industry.

“The foundation of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing is utilizing data from the factory floor in real time. To help manufacturing companies, big or small to start on their journey to Industry 4.0, ifm has created moneo, which is an easy-to-use software platform. Among its major benefits for customers are real time monitoring of production quality, energy waste and machine health.“ Florin Molosit Managing Director ifm electronic Romania.

moneo by ifm: main benefits on the factory floor

  • Higher efficiency: moneo uses data to determine the correct functioning of the machinery, the progress of processes, and energy consumption down to product level. This allows for a better understanding of how resources are employed and whether a more effective way to use them can be found.
  • Increased safety: Some production activities, for example assembly, molding of parts, inspection, and control of machinery, can pose serious risks to the health of operators. The ability to remotely manage the acquisition of data and to entrust the most dangerous activities to robots and intelligent machinery allows the company to guarantee the safety of its workers
  • Downtime reduction: Predictive maintenance allows customers to estimate the time left before a failure occurs. By planning the appropriate interventions in advance, it will be possible to reduce the risk of unplanned downtime and the associated costs.
